Estella is starting to get frustrated because she is starting catch on that she is becoming Miss Havishams puppet. After this point she really does not want to deal with Miss Havisham anymore. She has really just got sick even thinking about Miss Havisham, and how she has turned her back on Estella. Estella decides to tell Miss Havisham to back off, and that she does not ever want to talk to her again. I think that from now Estella wants to go off and find another man that she will like to be with, and marry him. After this i believe Pip will become very angry and want to talk to Estella about what they had and what she did to their relationship.

I agree with most of what you said about Estella's realization. I agree with the beginning, that Estella finally realizes that Ms. Havisham has just been using her as a puppet all her life, and that this prompts her to lash out at her. What I don't agree with is the part about her trying to find a man that she would like to be with. I agree that she has been looking for man and is going to marry Drummle, but I think she marries him more as a statement to Miss Havisham, not because she actually wants to be with him. I also agree with Pip wanting to talk to her about their relationship.
ReplyDeleteI agree that Estella has realized that she is Miss Havisham's puppet, but i think that she has realized that for a little while now. I think she has known it but hasn't had the courage to speak out against her. The reason being because Miss Havisham has been the only person who has raised Estella. Estella thought that if she spoke out against her then where would she go. Although now she is old enough to the point she can live by herself or can go and stay with Drummle.
ReplyDeleteI agree that she has realized that she is Miss Havishams puppet, but it was eventually going to happen. Miss Havisham raised Estella to have no heart or feelings towards anyone. So of course she will not care about Miss Havisham even if she raised Estella. I agree with Matt Wolfe on some levels. I think Estella needs someone that she can control but will be there if she has any problems or needs help. The only reason to marry someone for her is for her convenience because she cannot actually love anyone.
